General Rules:
* ICA=ICC. Bluntly put, this means "In-Character Actions = In-Character Consequences." If your character walks up to an angry, feeding Metalhead and pokes it in the nose? Expect your arm to get bitten off. Your character is responsible for their own actions. You may not simply brush off or ignore consequences because you don't like them. If you don't want something bad to happen to your character that you cannot avoid, don't start crap. So unless you're Jak, I don't wanna see any wise-guys taking on two-hundred Metalheads with a switchblade. Whether you like it our not, you'll end up spending a lot of time in recovery.
* Respect your fellow players! We're big believers in treating others the way you’d like to be treated. Be polite in all posts—in and out of character. If you have a problem with another player, please try to work it out civilly, and between just the two of you. If you cannot solve the problem, please tell the admin, no one else. Nobody likes a hater!
* Be patient with others, please. You cannot make a post and expect a response within 30 seconds. Anyone who has nothing to do but RP 24/7 probably needs another hobby or two. Please remember, roleplay is not the be all, end all of human existence. People have other things to do. Be patient while waiting for replies.
* This roleplay will be a descriptive one. No three-word posts. No one-liners.
* Limit out of character actions in roleplay posts. Too much oocness can be very distracting, and at times annoying to other players. So please put OOC posts in the OOC section.
* Please do not spam. Just don’t do it. There will eventually be a section for advertising, so contain spam there.
* Please keep everything rated PG-13 or below. Swearing is allowed, but nudity, and sex is NOT. No exceptions.
* On the swearing rule, you may ONLY use it if your character would. Try not to do it at ALL in OOC posts, or in the chat. It offends people. Absolutely NO F-bomb.
* Though the board is rated PG-13, please act mature. Drama queens and attention seekers will NOT be tolerated in or out of character. If you really have a problem thinking your character is being ignored, tell the admin.
* If your character enters a scene that is already going on, please be patient. If two characters are talking they might not notice yours right away. Don’t take this as an insult. Just be patient.
* Moding or powerplaying will not be tolerated. Definitions of moding are as follows:
A. When a player ignores the posts of other players although he's in their presence and their actions should affect his character.
B. When a player refuses to acknowledge the traditional rules of combat - For example, claiming an attack or action didn't or couldn't do damage to his character when he's playing a character not equipped to defend against said attack or action. Or refusal to recognize the strengths and abilities of his opponent (underestimating his enemy).
C. When a player is playing a character that is far too powerful without weaknesses. - For example, a demon who is also able to wield holy powers and avoid all possible attacks.
D. When a player takes an action that would be considered impossible for his character - For example, a mere human prying free from an ancient vampire's embrace or a human taking an elf unaware without magical enhancement.
* Any fights that take place will be done in the turn-based form. This is a term usually used for chatrooms, but it has meaning here too.
A. First, you cannot do multiple moves in one post. A punch and a kick are okay, but nothing outrageous.
B. Secondly, you cannot call a hit or any sort of damage on your opponent. If they acknowledge being hit, they call the damage themselves.
C. You absolutely cannot dodge everything. This is a form of moding and will not be tolerated.
* You cannot play another person's character, nor can you npc an unplayed character from the same series as the one you played, unless you have applied to play that character, or have express admin permission. For example, if you are playing Torn, he cannot carry a conversation with Ashelin if nobody is playing her. The only way you can have a conversation with her is if another person is playing - and writing for - her.
* When you post, please post your character's name AT LEAST once in the post. Most players are going to have more than one character. We need to know which one you're using.
* This rp is turn based, so that means your character doesn't have to post every other time if there are several people involved in a thread. Give everybody a chance to reply before you take another turn. (The exception for this is if a character is unconscious...they don't have to post again until they wake up). The rule is also null and void if a person has not posted for two days or more.
* You may have one and ONLY one account.
* Type properly. Most people have access to spell check through some program, so please, use it. Do not use chatspeak in regular posts~ do not use 'u' for you, 'y' for why, et-cetera.
* Do NOT bump threads. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. The ONLY exception to this rule is the 'chat in session' thread.
Please post if you've read these.
Character Rules:
****Something to note: We want to watch out for eco-freak monsters. The Dark Warrior program that the Baron had started, as stated in the first cut-scene, saw all of its experiments dead or failed, save for Jak (who up until that point, had remained supposedly unchanged). We don't need a Dark-OC army. I know it sucks, but we're going to be pretty picky about the dark eco powers... And if you have them, well, remember: Failed experiment. Create characters appropriately. :D ***************
* What you may play:
1. Any existing character from the Jak and Daxter: Jak II series.
2. Your own fan character from the Jak and Daxter world.
*If you’re not sure if the character you want to play will fit in, ask the admin.
* As of right now you may play up to FIVE characters. If you're playing that many, at least two need to be OCs.
* Before you start playing, your character application must be approved by a moderator.
* If you want to give up one of your characters for another, and you have no extra slots, you must wait for TWO WEEKS before picking up the other character you want. This is to (hopefully) discourage people from adding and dropping characters continuously.
* Your character must be at least seven years old. This is so they can take care of themselves (feeding and dressing and such). It's not fair to burden other characters with a three year old. An exception to this rule would be a mother with an npc baby. Players with a dependent child character must keep the child with an adult character of their own.
* You cannot attach your character to someone else's without the other person’s permission.
* You may not force someone else to play a character based on the past/actions/conditions of your character.
* There is to be no slash/yaoi/shonen ai/shojou ai in this roleplay. This is for the general comfort of all of the players. This rule does not stand to change. If it's an OC that's canon gay with another OC, that's acceptable. However, we don't need anything graphic, as per the general rules above.
* Character cloning is not allowed. This means that if you have created a character that looks like, has the same attitude and abilities as Jak, you can not play them. Believe it or not, this is a form of plagiarism!
* Just because a character is mean to your character, it does not mean that your typist is not liked. Some characters are just jerks, and you don’t have to take it personally if they act rude. Remember, it’s just a game.
* When introducing a character, it is your responsibility to have them interact with others. Do NOT complain that your character is being ignored if you have not already made an attempt to interact-- a verbal attempt to interact. Standing and watching a group does not count as an attempt to interact.
* You may NOT play a villain without permission.
* If you are playing a major canon character, try to keep them as in-character as possible. If it's a minor, relatively undefined character, it isn't as much of a problem.
* In note of the previous rule, remember, you are playing a character, not yourself. If you personally do not like a character, it does NOT mean the character you are playing does. If you would do a certain thing in a situation, your character may do something else. Think things through before you type and you will come up with the best in character post.
* Do not complain if another character is mean to yours, unless it is something ooc for that character. Some characters (i.e. Jak) just aren't nice. The typist is NOT being mean to you. They're just playing the character. Do NOT hold back from posting in character because you're worried how others will respond. Play the character properly, and others will respond accordingly.
And yeah, that is a LOT. But, it's specific. It's good to know. If you DO have any other questions, PM a mod. :D We'll help ya out! Don't forget to post a reply if you've read this. Oh, and add booyah.
