Haven City has been saved by its unexpected heroes, Jak and Daxter. Krew, a maicious (and overweight) crime lord has been killed by his own greed. The Baron Praxis was killed by the Metal Head leader, Kor. And shortly thereafter, Jak and Daxter invaded the Metal Head nest, permanently removing Kor from the picture. Well, most of him. His head is now the main trophy in the Naughty Ottsel - a bar that used to be named the Hip-Hog, and was run by Krew. Daxter now owns the place.
One might think Haven City would now have the chance to live up to its name. With neither a Metal Head war nor the strict hand of the Baron to keep them in poverty, the people should be thriving and happy.
But those happy endings are never what they seem.
The major Metal Head threat is gone, but not all of them had been eradicated. Attacks are growing more and more frequent, and in larger numbers. At the same time, there are small groups of ex-Krimzon Guard members who don't want to work under the new Governess, Ashelin's rule. They're not going to take the change of power lying down. Unexplained explosions and sabotage have wreaked havoc on buildings being reconstructed, as well as the ones that managed to remain upright through it all. Terrorist cells are growing in number, and the new Krimzon Guard, even under Torn's steady hand, just doesn't have the manpower to contain it.
At the same time, there's trouble on high. Ashelin might be Governess, but there are a few people left over from Praxis' reign that won't stay quiet. Count Veger as well as ex-KG commander Lesca are vying for more power within the new government.
Of course, Krew's death hasn't gone unnoticed. There's a war within the crime world for the territory he's left behind. It's a problem that can't be ignored for too long.
Amid all the turmoil, something has yet to be noticed by those who hold important power. There seems to be a sickness of sorts taking hold, especially in the slums. It starts out almost invisible. Mood swings... A little cough or a cold sweat. Feeling a little under the weather. Then perhaps those mood swings get worse - people go into violent fits of rage or inconsolable sadness. They don't remember it when it happens. And then there's the cold sweats... The fever. The little tics in an ear or at the corner of an eye. Then the tips of their fingers, the ends of the ears... the tip of their noses start turning a sick purple-grey. But that's chalked up to work, usually. There's so much construction and gritty work, that could have come from anywhere, right?
The sickness is spreading, but going unnoticed by most. And it's not just any sickness. It's a virus. One that hasn't just come from nowhere... And it might just be the biggest threat to the city yet. Reply if you've read...
