"Oh, thank you so much, I really appreciate it!" Tabitha said, jumping up. If she didn't hurry she'd be late for work. "Don't worry, I'll be back as soon as my last shift is over," she told Nik. She grinned at him and then, before he could protest, gave him a short hug before bolting off.
"Good-bye!" she called as she raced out the door.

Nik froze when she hugged him, then deflated like a balloon when she ran off. To many thoughts ran through his head at once and he grabbed it in pain of the racing thoughts. He knew his medication couldn't help him with this sort of trauma, and he refused to let another doctor "inspect" him and try to figure out how his homicidal brain worked, tried to figure out how it was that a serial killer could cold turkey drop the blood lust and have a girlfriend.
With a snarl he grabbed something close by, he didn't know what it was, but it had a good heft in his hand. With a growl he smashed it hard into the wall about ten times in anger till he was finished then slid down the wall on his shoulder pressing hard to the wall almost in hysteria. He pulled at his hair his mind still racing and let loose a pain filled howl of anguish.
claws clicked against the cement floor as Brick, Spark, and Shadow slowly came towards him. The animals always knew when he needed them, like he did now. "I'm fine," Nik tried to say, but his voice was strangled in his throat. Spark leapt onto his shoulder and purred rubbing his face, Shadow settled onto his lap and Brick was just there, an unmovable wall of flesh. Nik wrapped his arms around Brick's head for a moment before he was hit by a headache and clutched his poor head in pain from all his racing thoughts.
"Damn you Precursors, damn you all," he groaned. "She didn't deserve it. And I don't DESERVE THIS!" he ended screaming the last few words. Brick nudged him, but Nik didn't move, only leaned against the wall muttering her name over and over again like a mantra.
